Thoughts of You Never Leave Us

When someones life is just beginning, we give little thought to the fact that one day they will leave us. Here pictured with her brothers Richard and Lee is my Mom, Barbara. She was the eldest of this group and later two additional siblings joined the family.
The little girl in the previous picture grew to be a very beautiful young woman as is reflected in this picture of Mom in 1955 at the Ross County Fair in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was a part of a beauty contest of some sort. Even at the young age of 17 she had already met the young man that would later become her husband and love of her life.

This is the love of her life, Damon (Dad). They were committed to one another and loved each other. Although, as with any relationship there were the good times and the not so good times but, Mom & Dad were joined at the hip. Where you saw one, the other was not far behind.
This was their Wedding Day, September 8, 1956. They were very happy on that day. After Mom left us I heard Dad remark to someone that he lived to make her happy. Whatever she wanted Dad tried to make it happen for her. As the years went on, no matter where you saw them, they would be walking hand in hand, whether at the mall, at church, at the fair, that was always their trademark. They were married and in love for 48 years.

The picture above and below show her with her family. The picture above with her 4 kids, me (Rick), my brother Tim, and my two sisters Mindy & Laurie in the late 1960's. Below shows her with her Mom & Dad, Harry & Anne Music, brothers Richard (Dick) & Lee, and sisters Janice and Becky.

Mom has left a legacy for her family which of course includes grandchildren and a great grand daughter she would love to pieces if she were still here. She taught to love God and trust him with every aspect of our lives. She would spend hours reading the Bible and journaled what she learned through her prayer time. No matter what the situation was, she seemed to have the ability to invoke the presence of God into the middle of it. During her life she touched not only the lives of her family but, of countless hundreds others who came across her path. Whenever tragedy would strike in our lives the first words out of our mouths were, " Somebody call Mom and have her pray." She never failed us, always there to love, listen, pray, and give advise when invited into a situation. Today marks the sixth anniversary of her passing. We still feel the void in our family. She was quite a gal. Our loss was definitely Heavens gain!

Well said her legacy will reach many future generations I am sure. I pray she can see from heaven to know the lives she touched.

I hope that even the future great grandchildren will come to know and love their Nanna through the legacy that she left in us.
